Guides · The rules

Bangkok club dress code and rules, so nobody gets turned away.

The stuff nobody tells you until you're at the door: what to wear, what ID works, how late the rooms go, and how a table works once you're at it. Read it once, brief the crew, done.

Drinking age 20 Bring your passport Most rooms close 2am Smart casual, no flip-flops

ID: bring the passport

The legal drinking age in Thailand is 20, and the top rooms check. Bring your actual passport — a photo on your phone gets you through some doors and turned away at others, and a driver's licence from home is a coin flip. Keep it in a zipped pocket, not a back one. If the crew has anyone who looks under 25, this is the line that ruins the night if you skip it.

Dress code

Smart casual, same as a good room anywhere. Concretely:

Rooftops and the scene restaurants are stricter than the clubs — no sportswear, no flip-flops, some no shorts. Pack one proper outfit for the big night.

Closing times

Most of Bangkok closes at 2am. A handful of rooms in designated entertainment zones — parts of Sukhumvit, Silom and RCA — are licensed later, and the top clubs on our list run into the small hours on the big nights. Plan the night backwards from the room that closes last, not forwards from dinner. That's what the driver's for.

Getting in

Cover charges at the big rooms are typically a few hundred baht and often include a drink; with a table, you're walked in. Lines happen on big DJ nights. A held table doesn't make the line disappear, but it does mean you're not standing in it wondering if you'll get a spot.

Questions crews actually ask

What is the drinking age in Bangkok?

20. The top clubs check ID at the door and prefer a physical passport — a photo on your phone doesn't always work.

What should I wear to a nightclub in Bangkok?

Smart casual: a collared shirt or clean tee, dark jeans or chinos, clean sneakers or shoes. Shorts, tank tops, football shirts and flip-flops get turned away at the big rooms on weekends.

What time do clubs close in Bangkok?

Most close at 2am. Some rooms in designated zones on Sukhumvit, Silom and RCA are licensed later, and the top clubs run late on the big nights.

Do I need to bring my passport to clubs in Bangkok?

Yes. Bring the physical passport. A photo works at some doors and not others, and a home driver's licence is unreliable.

How does a VIP table work in Bangkok?

The minimum is a spend you order bottles against, with tax and service added on top. Our packages pay the minimum before you land so nothing happens at the door.
